Julián Sanz
Julián Sanz will try to do his best during the first ten hours, in order to maintain later: “I will try very hard, so the thing is to go at full speed at the start in order to keep the pace later", he says. The trial consists on covering the maximum number of kilometres within 24 hours, a circuit of 23.23 kilometres. He would get the Guinness Record if he beat Orlando Borini's 870 kilometres.
This is the first time this kind of trial is taking place in Spain and it will be supervised by six official judges from the Basque Cycling Federation. This fact makes Julián Sanz happy as: “For me it's very important that a federation recognises a trial of this kind”, he comments.
Among Julián Sanz's main objectives is to get in the World ranking. Despite everything, Julián will try to get a high place in this ranking, among the three best distances.
Race Across America
Julián Sanz will also take part from 8 June in the Race Across America, which will start in San Diego ( California ) and will end in Washington after crossing fourteen of the USA 's states. The latest winner of the French long distance trial ‘Le Tour Ultime' is preparing for this trial thoroughly: “I'm trying to be mentally prepared for the long stretches there are because they must be hard psychologically. There are stretches that are 400 kilometres long and that means a whole day on a stretch”, he explains.
For the Race Across America, Julián Sanz will use the BH Aero bicycle: “I have been training with it all year, we thought about this bicycle because you have to be together for a long time in the Race Across America and that competition is the main objective of the season", he notes.
The racer for BH is thinking about, on the one hand, getting the Guinness Record in the trial held in Vitoria and, on the other, he will continue training in order to achieve another of his objectives this season, completing a good Race Across America.
