BH ULTIMATE: a featherweight with a carbon fist
ULTIMATE: one of the most advanced frames of the last decader
The new ULTIMATE range is here to consolidate BH international firm top position in the rigid MTB frames. More than two years of development have served to create this featherweight champion with a carbon heart and fist, which has reached 1.2 kg with the integration of the yoke of the saddle: this is the Global Concept line, BH’s flagship. Constantly evolving in the van of progress of technology.
The ULTIMATE model intends to become the flagship of BH’s MTB frames. The new creation by this international firm is an explosion of technological innovation that will mark a turning point in the way of feeling, enjoying and competing with a mountain bike.
After two years of development, BH is proud to present a frame characterised by an innovating design, created by a development group formed by engineers, professional bikers and experienced riders. As a result, it has one of the most advanced frames of the last decade, and, apart from providing unprecedented technological solutions, its frame weights 1.2 kg. With the integration of the yoke of the saddle, the key point of BH’s Global Concept range.
“The frame is topmost in the mountain segment and its main innovation is BH’s integrated yoke, also in the mountain models. This year, this model will be much sought for, and our BH Suntour team is already testing it at the test lab; the MTB World Cup”, Nico Vies, BH Product Manager, explained.
The new ULTIMATE has undergone exhaustive structural studies that have resulted in an amazing design, combining rigidity and lightness thanks to a precise alignment of the HM carbon fibres and its Tube-to-tube construction. This strengthens the areas under higher structural stress and de-stresses those that do not have to bear such heavy weights.
“This is the most rigid MTB frame in the market right now, and the medium size weights 1.2 kg., which means that the rigidity-weight ratio is unattainable. We have reduced by 150 grams its weight as compared to the previous model and its rigidity has increased by 25%. Furthermore, we have changed the tube section in order to attain that great rigidity-weight ratio”, as the director of the BH mountain range explained.
But the ULTIMATE has much more to offer. The carbon mono-hull frame with an integrated saddle yoke – with 25mm position adjustment margin – is a great progress, but this is only the top of the iceberg...
Multiformat pedal set
Thanks to the new multiformat, the frame can be adapted to the standard BB30 and Press Fit 92mm, which makes it easier to choose freely, while having the possibility to implement changes in the future. And all thanks to an exchangeable mechanised aluminium component that makes it possible to adapt the ULTIMATE, a technological solution that also makes it possible to reduce its weight and increase rigidity in that crucial part of the frame.
Besides, in order to guarantee the outmost maintenance for our cables and cases and prevent them from getting damp or hooked, the new ULTIMATE incorporates a cable and case railing system through the inner side of the frame. Thus, we always guarantee the outmost reliability in our shifts. Moreover, the brake support is integrated or hidden in the hull, “which ensures a more compact frame” according to Nico Vies.
‘EVO BRAKE MOUNT’ rear brake support
The new brake support system improves noticeably the efficiency of the rear brake, since it provides an ideal angle of attack. Similarly, this support is 30% more solid. ‘EVO BRAKE MOUNT’ reduces the vibrations in the clamp, increasing the braking power and reducing the annoying breaking noise (tested by our Formula brake supplier). Besides, this new position of the rear brake clamp protects it from getting hooked and from possible blows, increasing safety.
these amazing advances add up to the already mentioned weight reduction and to the increase of rigidity and, hence, the ULTIMATE 9.9 weights only 8.2 kilograms –medium size-! The new BH mountain model is set to become the new mountain king. Do you want to fly?
