Keep your BH bike in shape

Whenever your take your mountain bike out for a ride – whether it’s to enter a race or just to pedal around the mountain or on the road – it is essential to have it properly tuned.

First, check the bottom bracket, especially if the axle is getting stuck or there is any slack, in which case use a pin spanner to solve the problem after tightening the axle screw with a 14 socket wrench. Check that the pedals are also tightened.

Another key part of the bicycle is the headset. To properly adjust the headset, use the two headset wrenches and loosen and tighten the locknut with a 5 or 6 allen wrench.

Don’t forget to check the wheels! Also because that is where another key component of the bike, namely, the brakes, is. If they have slackened, use the tensors and replaced any worn parts.

It is also essential to check the wheel releases and the rims and mudguards. Also check the tire pressure, replace inner tubes if they have more than one puncture and check the that the wheels are properly centered.

Another important element that affects the wheels is the shock dampers. Make sure that their screws are tight and that they are of equal pressure, about 3 to 4 kg of pressure.
