UCI WORLD CUP #2 CAIRNS: THE COURSE

UCI WORLD CUP #2 CAIRNS: THE COURSE

<< Fast downhill, rocks, jumps, banked curves... >>

" The course is totally exciting: very technical, with a long first climbed  -about 6 to 7 minutes on single tracks-, then a fast downhill, very tricky...  rocks, jumps, and banked curves... I love this course!

The jet lag and weather are not so easy... but I have become used to manage it. Hopefully I will get a better result than in Pietermaritzburg this next Sunday, and I expect having fun! "

The climb out of VEMASS (4X Style Technical section) takes riders to the top of ‘Rodeo Drop’ before bringing them back toward the Event Centre for the run down ‘Wallaby Track’ to ‘Cadel’s’.

After the climb then does a U-turn at Ocean View for an equally long descent back through Dougie’s via the rock ramp of Crocslide and the descending switchbacks of Jacob’s Ladder.

Julie's tip:   A long single bump while cornering, fast descents, pebbles, jumps... Yesterday recognition under a nice downpour and when it rains it slide here. Have to be careful.

Re-entering the Event Centre at the Tech/Feed Zone, spectators can catch one last glimpse of the riders as they prepare for the western leg of the course.

Riders will finish the 5.13km course with one final technical climb and descent through Barramundi before the fast, flat run back to the Event Centre through Northern Greenfields.

Riders will need to hold onto their concentration for one last section – the mini-VEMASS – before opening it up for the dash to the finish.
