On paper, all the stages seemed relatively easy: distances between 90 and 105 km and little elevation, except for one stage approaching 2,000 meters. But the reality is different: the terrain makes each stage demanding, with rocks that make the bike bounce and wear down the body, and a constant wind that gives no respite

TIAGO FERREIRA
GRAVEL SERIES
When the road ends, the adventure begins
Five races. Five landscapes. A series created to push gravel to the limit:
the Tiago Ferreira Gravel Series.
A major challenge alongside Tiago Ferreira — one of the top names in international XCM, with multiple podiums at the UCI XCM World Championship and several Portuguese National Championships in XCM and XCO — and his travel companion, the BH GravelX R.
The Tiago Ferreira Gravel Series are more than races: they are a journey designed to explore the limits of gravel and discover unique routes. Five different events, each with its own character and challenge, allowing riders to experience gravel in its purest form: from the Sahara deserts to the remote landscapes of the Badlands, including technical trails and roads that seem suspended in time.
Tiago travels through deserts, hidden trails, and breathtaking landscapes, tackling demanding climbs, technical descents, and sections where only the wind sets the pace. And he’s not alone: his Gravel X R is his inseparable companion, ready to adapt to any terrain.
Sand, loose gravel, mud, or rock.
These five events are not just competitions: they are a complete adventure testing endurance, skill, and passion. A project aimed at giving visibility to the discipline, showcasing the performance of the Gravel X R in competition, and bringing the real experience of a professional rider to the public in these types of challenges.
Welcome to the Tiago Ferreira Gravel Series!
Sahara Gravel Race 24.03.2026 – 27.03.2026
Kilometers of sand, loose gravel, and relentless wind.
This is how the Sahara Gravel Race is experienced.
From the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara Desert, the Sahara Gravel Race is a four-day stage race across some of the most spectacular gravel paths in the world. The route stretches from Ouarzazate to Erg Lihoudi, covering a total of 445 km with over 4,500 meters of cumulative elevation, with 90% of the course on gravel paths or seemingly simple trails.
But reality exceeded all expectations.

From the start, Tiago Ferreira stayed with the lead group for much of the race,
riding at a very high pace alongside top-level competitors.
It’s great to be in the front group for a big part of the race, to enjoy events like this in such incredible settings, and to share all these kilometers with such strong riders
The effort paid off with a great result:
165 km in 5:15 and an impressive fifth place in a highly competitive race.

It has been the most challenging race I have had to date
This is how Tiago describes his adventure at The Traka 325K. A route where pace, effort management, and adaptability were key from the very first kilometre to the finish line, in a race that pushes every rider to their physical and mental limits.
I rode from km 223 to 325 completely on my own, but I managed to keep the pace and finish strong without breaking down. I’m very satisfied with my performance and my 13th place
