KARUKINKA GRAVEL RACE, A JOURNEY TO THE END OF THE WORLD
by Antonio Ortiz.

Surrounded by landscapes that seem to come from a dream of another world.
A southern point of the planet, where the sea and the mountains merge in a wild and pure environment: Tierra del Fuego. Here, the concept of "isolation" takes on a new dimension. The paths wind through lenga forests, rivers, lakes, snow-covered mountains, and vast steppes that unfold before the participants.

It’s an extreme beauty, hard to define, that makes you feel the immensity of nature
The most striking thing about the Karukinka Gravel Race is not just the overwhelming landscape, but the sensation of being at the end of the world, in a place where, luckily, few dare to venture. The real feeling is that of exploring a remote corner of the Earth, a place so far removed that every pedal stroke feels like a conquest.
The wind, one of the cyclist’s greatest enemies, often blowing head-on, pushes fiercely and seems to snatch away any hope of reaching the destination. The cloudy skies clear momentarily, revealing mountains that seem touched by the hand of the gods. The terrain is unpredictable: endless unpaved tracks, as they call them there, stretch on kilometer after kilometer, each view more stunning than the last.

Each of the four stages was a challenge in itself. From the start at Villa Camerón, through Lago Blanco, Caleta María, and Pampa Guanaco, the Patagonian geography revealed all its rawness and beauty. The last stage, back to Villa Camerón, was particularly emotional: the finish line marked not only the end of four days of pure gravel effort but the closure of a unique experience at the end of the world. Reaching it was not just a physical achievement but an emotional milestone, a mix of exhaustion and gratitude for having been part of something so special.

And in the end, the reward: a slow-cooked barbecue on lenga wood, surrounded by cyclists sharing stories of fatigue and triumph, but also of friendship. That is the true essence of the Karukinka Gravel Race: a challenge of endurance but also a connection with nature and other cyclists in a place like few others in the world.

The Karukinka Gravel Race in Tierra del Fuego is not just a cycling challenge. It’s an immersion in nature at its purest, a journey that redefines what it means to be at the "end of the world".

Experience it! Don’t just hear about it.
